Questionnaire Results

The results of my survey monkey questionnaire made me realise who my magazine should target. The majority of the people surveyed were male (53.8%), with females being (46.2%). The most common age was 14-16 (53.8%), with 17-19 year olds being second common (30.8%). The hobbies of those surveyed were football, shopping and listening to music. When asked how often they read magazines, slightly often was the most popular choice (30.8%), with not at all often being second popular (23.1%). This result showed me that it might be a good idea to make a website to go alongside my magazine, as perhaps magazines are not as popular too the age group I’m targeting. When asked what shops they shopped in, the most popular responses were Topshop/Topman, River Island, Choice, Primark and Zara. This gives me the sort of shops to include on fashion pages in my magazine. The responses to which magazines those surveyed read was interesting, as fashion magazines were most popular (41.7%), with music magazines only receiving 8.3% of the overall percentage. I wanted to know what genre of music to base my magazine around, and the survey resulted in R&B being the overall majority, with 75.0%, and Indie music being second favourite. 100% of those surveyed listen to music every day. I wanted to find out how often people attended concerts, as it would be an idea to run competitions to win tickets to concerts. 53.8% of those surveyed attend a live musical performance moderately often. The last question I asked was what articles would people like most to appear in a new music magazine, and gig and tour information was the most popular with 80% of the vote. Other options included festival information, celebrity gossip/interviews and fashion tips.

Overall, my survey results has shown me the age to aim my music magazine at (14-18), the genre of music to base it round (r&b and indie) and the articles to include.
